I am not used to these "burn-setup" approaches, normally I buy the DVD and install. MAIN TOPIC PROBLEM - I want to copy the rundll32.exe file into windows/system32 and register it.Ī friend has given me a copy of windows XP but when I run it it requires burnsetup. I might also have a USB drive problem, and I am unable to install camera software. XP runs, I think the system is virus-free, my friend can use the internet but I cannot access the control panels. Eventually I used Emsisoft and it removed the rundll32.exe. In fact it wasn't removed and when I did a bootscan it found the virus but gave a read error when I tried to fix it. The virus was win32 dropper.gen, and it affected the rundll32.exe.Īvast found the virus but gave a message that the threat had been removed - yet it kept coming back. I attached the Malware log even though it says it's clean.A shop(!!) installed Windows XP on a friend's computer with a virus. Which makes me believe it's something else using the exe as a cover. The first time it happened I also did an adwcleaner scan, but that also came up clean.Īny ideas why this is happening? I have been using Purebasic for several years now and I've seen several false positives when compiling a program, but never anything like this. I tried scanning with Malwarebytes, but it says everything is clean. This is the second time in two weeks that it has happened. Restarting the computer was the only way to make it stop. So, I told avast to delete it, but avast just keeps reappearing every couple of seconds with the same warning. I checked the task manager and it wasn't reporting that it was running. The virus popped up when I wasn't running the temporary executable. When I compile some code Purebasic creates a temporary executable located at the codes directory. The PureBasic_Compilation0.exe is from a programing language I use from time to time. Process : C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe Original folder : C:\USERS\BILL\Documents\PureBasic_Compilation0.exe
